The Darwin Tree of Life team have proposed to sequence the genomes of a trial set of lichens, which Dr Rebecca Yahr from the Planet Power team describes as “a tangle of genomes.”
Dr Yahr, a self-proclaimed “Lichen-loving botanist” currently working at the Royal Botanic Gardens of Edinburgh, writes about what you need to take to the Scottish Highlands to collect a sample of this infamously ‘difficult’ species.
