Kes Scott-Somme answered on 22 Jun 2022:
I didn’t get any A-levels at all! I was doing fashion, textiles, art and philosophy at A-level, which I didn’t really like, and I didn’t think my teachers were very good. Eventually I got kicked out, so I didn’t get any qualifications. But I did go travelling, and I worked a lot to save for trips, so I got some really varied experience. A good few years later there was a foundation degree in marine conservation that I was really interested in, but they wanted a minimum of 5 GCSEs (mine were no longer valid) – I emailed the course lead and asked him what access courses he would accept, but he decided I deserved a chance due to all my experience and gave me an interview for the course. I got in, and a few years later I had a BSc in Science!
