• Question: What equipment do you use to study protists?

      Hi! The equipment we are using here in the lab are:
      microscope, cell counter (hemocytometer), centrifuge, pipettes and tips, -80C freezer (to store them in). Then the equipment used to extract DNA from them are pipettes and tips, centrifuge, and a heated mixer as well as the various reagents.
      I’ve also used an incubator recently to keep the cells in while keeping them in the dark to try out a dark treatment before extracting from them. This seems to work well on green algae strains.
